InVid Tech IP Camera & NVR System

Basic setup and configuration of InVid Tech IP cameras and NVR (Network Video Recorder). Get your surveillance system recording and accessible.

Setup steps

  1. 1Unbox your InVid IP camera and NVR. Note the default IP address for your camera model (varies by series: Paramont uses 192.168.226.201, Ultra/Secure use 192.168.1.64, Vision uses 192.168.1.13).
  2. 2Connect the NVR to your network switch/router using an Ethernet cable. Plug in the NVR power supply and wait 2-3 minutes for the system to boot completely.
  3. 3Connect your IP camera to the same network using an Ethernet cable (or PoE if supported by your NVR). Power on the camera and wait 60 seconds for it to fully initialize.
  4. 4On your computer, open a web browser and enter the camera's default IP address (example: http://192.168.1.64). Log in using default credentials: Username 'admin' and password '1234567u'.
  5. 5IMPORTANT: Change the default password immediately to a strong unique password. Go to Settings > User > Admin and set a new password. This is critical for security.
  6. 6In the camera's web interface, go to Video Settings > Video Encode and verify 'VIDEO ENCODE TYPE' is set to 'H.264' for both STREAM 1 and STREAM 2. Click 'Apply' to save.
  7. 7On the NVR, add the camera to the system. Go to the NVR's web interface (enter its IP address) and navigate to Camera > Add Camera. Enter the camera's IP address and the login credentials you just set.
  8. 8Once added, the camera should appear on the NVR dashboard and begin recording to the NVR's storage. Verify the camera feed is displaying and recording indicator shows activity.
  9. 9Set up remote access by configuring DDNS (Dynamic DNS) in the NVR settings if using a residential internet connection, or assign a static IP if on a business connection. Test access from another location to confirm recording and playback work.

Troubleshooting

Cannot find camera on network (IP address doesn't respond)+

Verify the Ethernet cable is connected properly and the camera has power (LED should show green or indicate power). Check that you're using the correct default IP for your camera model. Try pinging the IP address from your computer's command prompt. If still not found, perform a factory reset by holding the reset button on the camera for 10-15 seconds.

Cannot log into camera web interface (password incorrect)+

Confirm you're using the correct default password '1234567u' (with lowercase 'u' at the end). If you changed the password and forgot it, factory reset the camera to restore defaults. Be aware that Yealink is case-sensitive for passwords.

Camera is added to NVR but no video feed appears on NVR dashboard+

Verify the camera credentials in the NVR are correct (same username and password you set). Check that both the camera and NVR are on the same network or can communicate with each other. Restart both devices. In the NVR, try removing and re-adding the camera.

NVR recording shows no activity or status appears 'Disconnected'+

Verify the camera is still powered on and connected to the network. Check the NVR storage—go to System > HDD and ensure a hard drive is installed and has free space. Restart the NVR by powering it off for 30 seconds and back on. If recording still doesn't start, the hard drive may be full—review and delete old recordings.

Cannot access NVR or camera remotely from outside the office+

Verify DDNS is configured correctly in the NVR settings if using residential internet. Configure port forwarding on your router to allow remote access. Test the remote connection by visiting the DDNS address or your static IP with the configured port (example: myoffice.com:8080). If still cannot connect, check your firewall or ISP for port restrictions.

Pro tips

  • Always use strong, unique passwords for both camera and NVR login—default passwords are known and represent a security risk.
  • InVid cameras support H.264 and H.265 codecs. H.265 uses less bandwidth and storage but requires more processing power. Use H.264 unless you have a specific need for H.265.
  • Set the NVR's recording mode to 'Continuous' for critical areas and 'Motion Detection' for less critical areas to save storage space.
  • The NVR can typically connect 4-32 cameras depending on model. Verify your NVR's supported camera count before adding additional cameras.
