Grandstream GRP26xx IP Phone
Step-by-step setup and provisioning for Grandstream GRP2614, GRP2616, and GRP2624 IP phones. Get your phone registered and ready to make calls.
Setup steps
- 1Unbox the phone and connect the power supply to the unit. Plug an Ethernet cable from your network switch/router into the back of the phone.
- 2Wait 30-60 seconds for the phone to fully boot. You'll see the Grandstream logo appear on the display.
- 3Press and hold the UP arrow button for 3 seconds to display the phone's IP address on the screen. Write down this IP address (example: 192.168.1.100).
- 4On your computer, open a web browser and type the IP address into the address bar (example: http://192.168.1.100). Press Enter.
- 5Log in using default credentials: Username 'admin' and the random password printed on the sticker on the back of the phone. Click 'Login'.
- 6In the web interface, go to the 'Accounts' tab. Enter your SIP server address, SIP account (username), SIP password, and outbound proxy if required. Click 'Submit'.
- 7Set your phone's network to either static IP (recommended for desk phones) or DHCP. Go to Settings > Network > IPv4 Settings. Click 'Submit' to save.
- 8Reboot the phone by going to Maintenance > Reboot. The phone will power off and restart, pulling down any auto-provisioning configuration if available.
- 9Once rebooted, verify the phone is registered. You should see 'Registered' or a green status indicator next to your account on the phone display.
Troubleshooting
Phone shows 'Unregistered' or no dial tone available+
Verify the SIP server address, username, and password are correct in the Accounts tab. Check that your VoIP provider's SIP server is reachable from your network. Try rebooting the phone. If the issue persists, contact your VoIP provider to confirm the account is active.
Cannot access the web interface (browser shows 'Connection refused')+
Verify the Ethernet cable is firmly connected to both the phone and the network switch. Check that your computer is on the same network. Try pressing the UP button again to confirm the IP address. If the IP appears to be 0.0.0.0 or invalid, factory reset the phone by holding the RESET button on the back for 10 seconds.
Phone receives calls but outgoing calls fail or sound poor+
Check that firewall/NAT settings are correctly configured. In the web interface, go to Settings > NAT Traversal and select 'Yes' if behind a NAT router. Ensure your internet connection has sufficient bandwidth (recommend 100 Kbps per call minimum). Ask your VoIP provider if they require an outbound proxy server.
Can't remember the default password or web interface login fails+
Look for the sticker on the back of the phone—it contains the default password. If the label is missing, perform a factory reset: Hold the small RESET button on the back for 10-15 seconds until the phone reboots. Then log in with username 'admin' and the newly generated password (check the back sticker after reset).
Phone auto-provisioning isn't working+
Auto-provisioning occurs at boot if configured. Verify your VoIP provider's provisioning server is entered correctly in the web interface. Some providers use HTTPS—make sure the phone can reach HTTPS provisioning URLs. Try rebooting the phone and watch the display during startup to see if provisioning occurs.
Pro tips
- Use static IP addressing for desk phones to avoid losing configuration if the DHCP lease expires. Set this in Settings > Network > IPv4 Settings.
- If you're provisioning many phones at once, ask your VoIP provider about their bulk provisioning service—most can push configuration automatically to all phones via MAC address.
- Enable 'Keep-Alive' for NAT Traversal if the phone is behind a firewall or router. This prevents call drops due to session timeout.
- The phone can support multiple SIP accounts—use the Accounts tab to set up secondary numbers on the same device.
