A quality 4MP AI-capable IP camera like the InVid PAR-P4DRIR28-AI is $100 in our store. Higher-resolution 8MP turrets and specialty cameras (PTZ, long-range zoom) run up to several hundred. Most Maine businesses standardize on 4–5MP fixed cameras — sharp enough to read a license plate at the gate without blowing the budget.
The recorder (NVR): $500–$2,000
The NVR stores your footage. A 32-channel InVid NVR with 8TB of storage — enough for weeks of retention across a dozen cameras — is $2,000 in our store; smaller 8-channel units cost a few hundred. Sizing storage correctly matters more than camera count: retention time is usually what business owners get burned on.
Complete system bundles
We package the common configurations: our 5-camera system with NVR is $2,375 and the 10-camera system is $2,850 — both real, orderable bundles in our store, priced below buying the parts separately. Installation (mounting, cabling to each camera, focusing, app setup on your phones) is quoted flat after a free site walkthrough, and depends mostly on cable runs and mounting height.
What drives the price up or down
Three factors move a camera quote more than anything else:
- Cable runs — long or difficult runs (masonry, high ceilings, across parking lots) add labor
- Outdoor vs. indoor — exterior mounting and weatherproofing takes longer than a drop-ceiling install
- Retention requirements — 30+ days of storage on many cameras means bigger drives
